This week, Heidi and Martha are reporting to you from Melbourne NOW.
On Wednesday the 12/3/2014,
456 Su Nei Cieli went on an excursion to Hosier lane, Federation square and
National Gallery of Victoria for the Melbourne Now exhibition.
We went on the tram. Chaira
and Bec’s classes went to the NGV Australia fist. We went past some paintings and some sculptures then we went into an
installation that had strings everywhere and recycled materials.
‘I think it was bright and colourful but very strange
it was messy’ (Karla)
Something else that was
popular was the Icing exhibit by the Hotham Street Ladies. They made a long
lounge room of icing, a long rug, shoes, food and a messy dinner table and a
wall of icing saying ‘Hotham Street Ladies’.
Suzanne and Dani’s class went
to Hosier Lane to see some famous graffiti. We saw Maloo (an aboriginal boy).
“I liked the diversity of the art”(Suez)
“I liked the graffiti and I think it was
very good and creative” (Julian)
“It was pretty cool and I really loved
the bird” (Rosie O)
Julie and Steve’s went to NGV
International first. One of the most popular things we all did was the
exploding installation and the disco floor! The exploding installation was a
gigantic room that had huge speakers and lots of movie set lights. When you’re
least expecting it , the speaker and the lights comes on and it makes this
really loud exploding sound.
“I thought that it was really cool and
awesome that it just suddenly turns on, it’s like it is going to pop your ear
drums” (Heidi)
“I thought that the disco floor was
really fun and when I lay on the ground it looked like I was on the roof”
(Martha)
We visited a whole lot of
other cool things.
Quotes from the students:
“It was interesting how they made all of
the elements of the house into icing so overall it was an incredible piece of
art work (Djava)
“Well it was really colourful and that
made homemade when you pull the 3D shapes down it makes different sounds from
when you pull it up” (Nova)
“The exploding room was pretty cool”
(Riley)
“The disco room was groovy” (Kathleen)
“The exploding room was really loud and
scary” (Giselle)
