Writings about our camp

In this entry we post a few written pieces from students, the week after the camp at Gilwell Park:

A THOUSAND TREES’.

They’re the only things I see when I look around,
They’re everywhere, look to the left trees,
then look to the right, more trees,
If I walk to the path, look around, all that’s
Surrounding me is trees and wildlife; it’s amazing but easy
to get lost, I walk further and further, all the trees look
The same. I think I am lost I cant find my way back.
So many trees. Craig was right. They do look the same
I am scared but I’m used to the bush I sit down and wait,
“Aaaaaaahhhhhh slenderman” hang on its John with a nice warm
pizza, the one he owed me and the girls.

Best camp ever!!!!!

CAMP-DINNER!

I go to dinner,
Have a big snack,
There were wraps,
With chicken or beef.
The very next day,
I had some lunch,
There was banana bread,
That tasted very good.
For dinner that day,
I had chicken and salad,
And for dessert there was
CHOCOLATE MOUSE!

 HIGH ROPES
High ropes course
Done it before
Not that scary
Putting on the harness
Easy
Waiting for my turn
Nerves slowly creeping up
Really scared
My turn, for the little one
Not that high
Rocking, Rocking
Really high
Really Scared
Looked Down
WOW really high
Really, really scared
Absail down
Shaking
That was the little one
Now the big one
My turn
Everyone said it was scary
OH CRAP!!
Climb, climb
On the ledge
Clinging to the pole
Looked down
Big mistake
High
Really high
Slowly
Very slowly
On the wire
Yes not dead
Wobble, wobble
I’m past the middle
I want to come down
Really, really scared
Absail down
O.M.G I just did that
Shaking, shaking
Down
I am safe
AWESOME CAMP!!!! (kiana)

 Leeches!
I went on a hike at camp,
and fairly soon I found,
that small blobs of black jelly,
were thick upon the ground.

We walked on for a little way,
and then I heard a cry,
my classmate named Gwendolen A
had a worm attached to her thigh!

We all just made quite a fuss,
We flicked it with a stick,
but the worm’s grip held fast,
no matter how much we flicked!

Finally when we got to camp,
and had a biscuit each,
I realised that the thing I saw
WAS ACTUALLY A LEECH!

The Gauntlet...

Gauntlet? Obstacle course… EASY!
Quick sharp, over the net.
Balance stay strong, I can do it.
Ah, pole to slide down, slip, splash, who knew there was a puddle there?
More balance, a piece of cake.
Wobble, wobble, I did it.
Pothole??!! This can’t be good.
Ah 10cm puddle. SPLASH 10cm? NO, more like chest deep in muddy water. I have monkey bars now, slip, grip tighter, I fall on my knees FAIL.
A concrete cylinder, piece of cake, I am wrong again.
I get pulled up to safety… for now.
Mesh crawl oh what a mistake that was`
Chest deep, once again in muddy water, clambering through a tunnel.
Finally it is over, just John, the girls and me (the boys ran ahead at the beginning.)
We are greeted with a surprise, a promise of a pizza back at BEPS from John…
BEST CAMP EVER!

The Gauntlet

The gauntlet?
What is that?
I get there,
It’s an obstacle course.
Climb over rope
Get stuck, get down
Run some more
Oh no! a pole over water
I might get wet
I do it, get a bit wet
Run further
Get splashed
Get more dirty
Finally get to the end
Got a bit lost
Found our way
Had shower at camp
Went to dinner!
